Service2Media first with Windows Mobile apps in Marketplace

At Microsoft's launch event for the new Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system, Service2Media, Microsoft's mobile application partner, was proud to present four Windows applications that will become available for Windows Phones. De Telegraaf news application is the first Windows 6.5 app in the Dutch Windows Marketplace app store.

Other applications that will be developed for Windows Phones are  Buienradar, NS Reisplanner Xtra and Rabobank CashMS. "With the introduction of Windows 6.5 and Marketplace on many mobile devices from vendors such as Sony Ericsson, Samsung, LG and HTC, we see native Windows applications as a logical next step after Java and iPhone to reach the masses in Mobile," said Peter Broekroelofs, CTO of Service2Media.

Patrick Loppé, Mobile Channel Manager at De Telegraaf:  "The application of De Telegraaf is the Dutch first news application in Windows Marketplace. Soon a number of extensions will follow, such as personalized news based on keywords and interests, send news articles and post and reply to reactions." In April 2009  De Telegraaf launched an iPhone app. This application now has more than 100,000 downloads. De Telegraaf also has a mobile site, Telegraaf.mobi, which one of the largest mobile sites in the Netherlands. Per month, this site has more than 340,000 unique visitors and 12 million page views. Last year traffic has more than tripled.
