Service2Media congratulates SNS with it’s new multi-platform bank App portfolio. Over the last months SNS and Service2Media worked closely together to create this multi-platform launch, based on Service2Media’s App Lifecycle Platform™- M2Active.

Jeroen Platvoet, VP Operations Service2Media “There are a lot of banks that have jumped on the bandwagon to create mobile Apps. The problem is that many of them are limiting the reach of the App they launch to a limited amount of mobile platforms. For the clients that are excluded this implies, no value added. SNS is a positive exception of one of the few bank launching a full multi platform app portfolio in one go. SNS has chosen our platform not only for launching a multi-platform app portfolio today, but as well maintaining and upgrading it tomorrow”.

The mobile platforms include:

iPhone/iPad
Android
WP7
BlackBerry

With today’s launch, people are absolutely stunned by the great user experience in combination with a consistent branding experience across all the different mobile operating systems.

But that’s not all. The SNS App provides special functionality on all the platforms, including:

- Easy log in, to remember your username (with the SNS Digicode, to create on mijn.sns).
- Improved insights and overviews for payment, savings, investment accounts.
- up to 3 months review of debits and credit booking.
- Transfer between your own accounts with SNS Digicode.
- Transfer to other accounts with SNS Digicard.
- Your address book & contacts.
- Extensive possibilities to contact several SNS customer services.
- Highest standards of mobile App security, comparable with SNS online banking.
- A full roadmap of new functionality, created with Service2Media’s App Lifecycle Platform™ – M2Active

A screen capture of the iPad version:

Not so long ago it was only the analysts that talked incessantly about multiscreen, contextual awareness, gamification and augmented reality but recently we’ve noticed that many examples of these are passing over into everyday use. So the hype has led to something that’s real. We need to give you an example or two.

In smart-metering we’ve built an Energy Insight App that lets you monitor your energy usage, but also play the game of comparing how you’re doing with your neighbors and friends.

In our banking Apps we have sliders that show you piles of coins to inject a little augmented fun into setting an amount.

Many of our Apps take account of location to offer appropriate options based on the context of the customer.

The concept of second-screen Apps for a smartphone that provide linked content and actions to something that’s happening on your bigger TV screen is also something we’re used to. We have built Electronic Programming Guides (EPG) for example that let you review content and plan recordings and get notifications of up-coming events.

In our recent webinar on the Media space we mentioned the increased complexity, personalization and real-time updates coming into news media. We now discover there’s an App called Scoople that lets to answer a survey and predict how others will answer the same survey. By proving to be accurate you can get onto the ‘leaders board’; so we even have gamification in news media now.

What’s interesting to those developing Apps is that there is a blend of increased complexity, the need for a multi-channel strategy and multi-device support, yet the integration with smartphone features. Locally held data and back-end services is still crucial.

To deliver a great User Experience (UX) that embraces all these trends requires a development environment that agile and offers support for all these needs, and we suppose that’s the strongest reason for using an App platform like Service2media’s M2Active

Rabobank makes its mobile banking available for Windows Phone 7 smartphone-users. After award winning applications for iPhone, Blackberry and Android smartphones, the bank is the first to launch a free Win7 App, that enables consumers to manage their personal finance at any time and from wherever they wish. The App has been created jointly by Service2Media, Microsoft and Rabobank to optimize the user experience on this new platform.

The new App adds to the support for iPhone, BlackBerry and Android-smartphones, so that customers of Rabobank with Windows Phone 7 can check their balances and transfer money via the App. The need for mobile banking is growing. 650.000 Rabobank customers use their smartphone for mobile banking, the App has 2,3 million downloads and every month 90.000 new users.

Jeroen Platvoet, VP Operations Service2Media “We are happy to add Windows Phone 7 to Rabobank’s portfolio of Apps. Rabobank is a great example of a company that continues reaching out to all valued customers covering all different Mobile OSs”.

Forrester released a new report “Mobile is the New Face of Engagement” by Ted Schadler and John C. McCarthy for CIOs updated 23rd of February 2012.

Forrester mentions Service2Media as Engagement Platform Supplier in The Critical Path of Engagement Design and Delivery as Mobile middleware supplier. Read the full report.

Executive Summary:
By 2016, smartphones and tablets will put power in the pockets of a billion global consumers. Mobile is not simply another device for IT to support with a shrunken website or a screen-scraped SAP application. Rather, mobile is the manifestation of a much broader shift to new systems of engagement. These systems of engagement help firms empower their customers, partners, and employees with context-aware apps and smart products. To remain vital in this business technology reformation, CIOs must step up and work with other executives to establish an “office of the chief mobility officer” to implement an enterprisewide mobile strategy.

This team will coordinate the business and technology investments under a “design for mobile first” mantra that delivers four immediate benefits:
1) fuel profitable growth with stickier offerings and mobile self-service;
2) move faster along the mobile learning curve;
3) aggregate mobile project budgets to fund needed engagement technology; and
4) grow from an IT group focused on systems of record to a business technology group focused on systems of engagement.
